Doorways

Those of you who have been following my blog for some time know that I love doors, doorways, and windows!  Especially in this part of the world, these things have great character and often great family significance.  When a family moves, it is not uncommon for them to take the door from their home with them to the new house.  Often they are generations old.  And you can tell by looking at them!  They are often greatly worn with care.  Textured and beat up.  Faded or with layers of paint peeling from the surface.  Covered in papers or writing.  Hand carved and lovingly decorated, often with intricate designs.  Doors in this part of the world are very special.  And I love them.

I was out walking yesterday in a beautiful old neighbourhood filled with magnificent doors and doorways.  It is an area full of character.  An area I love to wander through.  Here are some of my favourites from yesterday…
